Sonnet LXVI (from One Hundred Love Sonnets)
I do not love you except because I love you
And I go from loving to not loving you
And from waiting to not waiting for you
My heart moves from ice to fire.
I love you only because you’re the one I love,
I hate you with no end, and haiting you I pray to you,
And the measure of my ever changing love
Is, not seeing you, love you blindly.
Maybe January’s light will consume
With its cruel touch, my entire heart,
Stealing away my key to true calm.
In this entire story I am just the one who dies
And I will die of love because I love you,
I love you, Love, in blood and fire.
Gotas de lluvia/Raindrops
Naturaleza/ Nature¿Y ahora qué? /What’ll I do?
Te quise; te he querido; te querré; te quiero.
Tu amor fugitivo. Tu amor finito. Tu amor, amor, que nunca fue mío.
And now, what’ll I do without you by my side, without your near presence, lukewarm and winding like a shade; long and silky like a little secret repeated incensantly in the ear until tickling it.
I loved you; I have loved you; I’ll love you; I do love you.
And now that you are no longer with me, things that I wanted to tell you whirlwind inside my mind; and feelings I wanted to share with you get stacked in my heart; and a thousand caresses filtred through my fingers abandoned by my solitude.
When love is broken and when affection is finished, we only have this dark emptinesss like an obscure abyss, torn and useless. Useless because you’re far; becasue I am sad and because we no longer are together.
Together as once we were, years back, hours back, in a compendium of endless days.
And now, that I only have left your emptiness and your quiet echo resounding in my quick mind, your memory assaults my life, once again, while cristal rain drops in the windows and a discreet and soft light ignite the light in my heart.
I see your photograph, fall from I don’t know where, like a fugitive memory. It would not has to be there, but it’s here, and now I just only see your honey and desert eyes, your smokey face, your shy smile and your ample hands, and your enormous and tame chest, and your wire legs twisted my winged legs. And I never get tired of it.
And now, what’ll I do? Now, that you are not longer here with me? To whom I dedicate this hunger love that explodes through my pores, that shines in my lips and leads me to remember you just when I just want to forget you?
(And do I want to forget you?)
Until late today you were no more than a memory, a memory I was struggling to forget… But your picture fell from nowhere, and I saw you again with this short dark hair, this thick enormous back in which I used to keep a thousand kisses, and I have to stop my flight. Because I’m stucked to you for my head, my belly and my heart…And I have to stop this crazy race, vociferating your name in the gray fog of a rainy day, resembling the effluvium of your dark voice, the manna of your caresses and the sweetness smoke of your scent…
And no longer I know what’ll I do. Because I can’t forget you; I still can not. Although I want it.
But I do not want it. And now I don’t know what I’m going to do, standing alone and sad in the pouring rain, surrounded by my sadness as once I were surrouned by you love. Your fugitve love. Your ever lasting love. Your never mine love.

I dreamed a dream*/ Yo tuve un sueño**
I dreamed a dream in time gone by/ Yo tuve un sueño hace ya tiempo
When hope was high/ cuando las esperanzas eran muchas
And life worth living./ y la vida valía la pena vivirla.
I dreamed that love would never die,/ Y soñé que el amor nunca moriría,
I dreamed that God would be forgiving./ y soñé que Dios siempre perdonaría.
Then I was young and unaffraid,/ Pero era joven e inconsciente,
When dreams were made and used and wasted./ en el tiempo en que los sueños se malgastan y se pierden.
There was no ransom to be paid,/ No había deudas por pagar,
no song unsung,/ ni canciones sin cantar,
no wine untasted./ ni vinos sin catar.
But the tigers come at night / Pero lo desconocido acecha en la noche,
With their voices soft as thunder,/ de forma imprevista con sus voces de trueno,
As they tear your hopes apart,/ y logra aniquilar todas las esperanzas acumuladas
As they turn your dreams to shame/ transformando los sueños en nada.
And still I dream he’ll come to me/ Pero aún así soñé que un día él vendría
And we will live our lives together/ y que viviríamos juntos por siempre.
But there are dreames that cannot be/ Pero hay sueños que nunca pueden ser
And there are storms we cannot weather…/ como hay tormentas a las que no resistir podemos.
I had a dream my life would be/ Yo soñé una vez cómo sería mi vida
So different from this hell I’m living/ tan distinta del infierno en el que hoy vivo.
So different now from what it seems/ Tan diferente era a lo que hoy es…
Now life has killed / Que la vida ha dado muerte
The dream I dreamed./ al sueño que una vez soñé.
It is not any newness, at this point of her multimedia revolution, that Susan Boyle has undergone a transformation. And I do not talk here about fame (what so rotten, so wished and boring matter!); I talk about which she represents, the reason why I found in her a symbol: it doesn’t matter the moment of life; the diferent things that happened, wounded and forgotten; the unique thing that truly worth is the present moment, today, the Now. She was already wonderful, I mean that she sang with pristine, wild and free voice before all this; only that few people knew about it. And she wanted everybody knew what she had inside. Because a treasure like that must come to the light, it must be known to everybody. She has done it. With a song whose lyrics are a picture of her own life, as well as the ones whose dreams are, if not the same, at least similar to hers.
Throughout that song, with she identified through to the bones, we could see how she was able to shine with the calm brightness of a pure spirit. Whenever she sang about how livid life destroyed each dream dreamed in the youth, they were her dreams and our dreams those she protrayed with so powerful vigor.
Everyone has his own time; every day, its duties. She has her own… And what it will be of her? I do not believe that matters. She managed to transform her dream in fact; the swam that was in her appeared in all its splendour in those few minutes. The other things that life is made of do not matter at all. Except for what Susan Boyle personifies, for what she is now a real symbol: a renewed Hope.

Te marchas tú;
verdes son los sauces,
largo el camino.
A haiku by Buson (1716-1784), replete of melancholy (can we know one without it?)
Old weary willows…
I thought how long the road would be
when you went away.
